Linda Elawa is extremely memorable, and not just because she has flaming red hair and a matching 2018 Camaro RS 🏎️. Linda is memorable because she has a way of making things better the moment she walks into a room. Her presence is simply electric.
Linda has spent over 25 years in academic medicine, doing just about every job there is to do: residency program coordinator, fellowship coordinator for ACGME-accredited and non-ACGME-accredited programs, clerkship coordinator, and institutional ACGME project specialist. Linda has worked in and around these roles long enough to understand not just how they function, but how they connect. She currently serves as the inaugural GME Accreditation and Operations Specialist at Community Health Systems (Health Education Services), where she oversees and mentors 25 program coordinators across 9 states.
What makes Linda stand out isn't just her experience. It's that she keeps going. The first in her family to attend college, she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees after turning 50 and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education. She approaches learning the same way she approaches everything else: with genuine curiosity and a competitive streak that pushes her to keep getting better.
As a mentor, Linda is a steadying presence. She has a knack for helping people zoom out when everything feels urgent, occasionally reminding mentees that no one is going to die when something goes wrong. She'll take a breath with you, and then she'll help you work through it.
She is also someone who believes deeply that GME coordinators and managers deserve more: more recognition, better pay, and real career development pathways. Linda is particularly eager to help GME Mentor members articulate their value in ways that actually get noticed by the people making decisions.
